A complete 6 week beginners' course for those totally new to yoga as well as for students with experience who wish to deepen their foundations of a yoga practice (or simply brush up their skills in a slower-paced setting). Over the six weeks I will break down the fundamentals of a well-rounded yoga practice: asanas (physical postures) and body alignment, movement and transitions, pranayama (breathing techniques) and basic meditation. Build strength, flexibility, balance and mental focus whilst practicing in a relaxed and friendly group setting. Upon completion of the course students will have the experience, confidence and knowledge to attend any open or all levels yoga class.

Course structure:

Back to Basics Yoga is taught in a six week sequence.


Each class will include a complete basic yoga practice with emphasis on the following:

Week 1

7th Feb - Your inner warrior – Sun salutations and standing postures


Week 2

14th Feb - Find the centre and connect to the core – Twisting and balancing


Week 3

21st Feb - Surrender to gravity – Forward bending and seated postures


Week 4

28th Feb - Bend over backwards – Heart-openers and back bending


Week 5

7th March- Turn your world upside down – Introduction to inversions


Week 6

14th March- Blissful breath and still life – A typical class with pranayama (breathing) and meditation techniques.
