A birds eye view – Day three of my retreat at Samye Ling

Following Lama Yeshe Rinpoche, Lama Kating and the sangha around the top floors of the monastery I am once again reminded of the great vision of my teacher Akong Rinpoche and his accomplishments in one lifetime. Buddha activity. Listening to Lama Yeshe Rinpoche and the joy he exudes is truly inspirational and fills me with joy to be around him.
I am reminded that I cannot waste time in this life  I have to look after my mind.
You realise the importance of retreat when you come to Samye Ling. Practise is everything  and people who practise can inspire others. You feel the preciousness of sangha.
Mix, when you can, with people you are in harmony with, go to the centres and practise together. Have tea together. Share something inspirational you have read.

Remember the interconnectedness of everything.

Be kind.

I am reminded, when I look at all of the photos, of how blessed we are to be able to visit all of the Samye Ling centres in their lovely locations and to be able to go there to do retreats and attend courses.
The lovely Victorian seaside resort of Scarborough where Kagyu Samye Dzong Scarborough is beautifully situated in its lovely grounds, with parks all around and a short walk down to the seaside, the majestic Kagyu Samye Dzong London is in Bermondsey with a beautiful park right outside, the glorious round shrine room at the Kagyu Samye Dzong Edinburgh centre, a beautifully converted bank, Kagyu Samye Dzong Glasgow sits  in the heart of Glasgow and runs soup kitchens for people in Glasgow. There is also a Kagyu Samye Dzong Highlands centre in the countryside of the Scottish Highlands countryside just by Loch Ness, a perfect place for a retreat and not forgetting the beautiful Holy Isle off the coast of Arran.
What a lovely sangha.
