We are playing host to the Cardiff Chan Group on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Tara Room at our centre in Canton. The Tara Room is in our newest building, number 248 which is on the right hand side of the row. The Tibetan Tea Room and the Quiet room where you'll find our shop and books for centre visitors to read, are also in this building.
Bill, who runs the groups, has provided some information for you below if you are interested in attending their sits. Please contact him directly if you would like further information.

Chan is the Chinese ancestor of Zen Buddhism. The Western Chan Fellowship is an association of lay Chan practitioners, a lay Sangha, based in the UK.
Our Guiding Teacher, Chan Master Simon Child, Jing-hong Chuan-fa, is the second Western Dharma heir of the late Chan Master Sheng Yen of Taiwan, receiving Dharma Transmission in 2000. Our Founding Teacher was Master Sheng Yen's first Western Dharma Heir, Dr John Crook. Our practice includes a variety of Buddhist meditation methods from the lineages of both Linji Chan (Japanese: Rinzai Zen) and Caodong Chan (Japanese: Soto Zen) - e.g. Gong-an (Japanese: Koan), Hua-tou, Silent Illumination (Ch. Mo-zhao, related to Jap. Shikantaza), and other methods such as use of the breath.
The WCF have Chan meditation groups meeting around the UK and have been meeting in Cardiff at various locations for many years. We are grateful to be able to continue are meditation sessions in the welcoming Kagyu Samye Dzong Cardiff, especially in the Tara Room as Green Tara holds a special place in the hearts of the Cardiff group.
We also offer half day meditation sessions at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff throughout the year ( https://www.
Anyone is more than welcome to attend, regardless of meditation experience or Buddhist lineage. Please feel free to contact Bill ( cardiffchanretreat(at)gmail.
