Nandi Kriwaczek is a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Reg. MBACP). Having completed her Psychology degree with the Open University, she went on to train as a therapist at the University of Wales, Newport, where she received a Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Nandi has worked as a therapist in a number of places, including Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, and Cardiff MIND, where she continues to work on a part time basis.

Relational Integrative Counselling

As a relational integrative counsellor, Nandi’s approach brings in theory and techniques from all three of the main schools of psychotherapy – humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). The relational element to Nandi’s model works on a number of different levels, the focus underpinning it all being on the relationship her clients have with their identity, their personal history, significant others in their life, their cultural and social environment and to their therapist. Developing the right relationship between client and therapist is fundamental to the success of the therapy and depends on an understanding of trust, empathy, acceptance and the commitment of the therapist to the client’s wellbeing.

Talking to a trained professional can help you to explore your situation and gain some perspective. Whether you are currently going through a time of crisis, or you are interested in achieving a deeper understanding of who you are and what influences the way you live your life, taking those first step into therapy can be the start of an exciting, courageous, and ultimately rewarding journey of self-discovery.

Nandi has worked with a variety of issues, including depression and low self-esteem, anxiety and stress related difficulties, sexual abuse, relationship difficulties, eating disorders and self-harm.
