Lorraine Harris – CEO & Mindfulness Trainer

Lorraine is a long-time practitioner of meditation with over 30 years experience in this field and is a qualified Mindfulness instructor. She gained a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) specialising in mindfulness from Cardiff Metropolitan University. She is a lead teacher for the Mindfulness Association and is a member of the UK Mindfulness Teachers Network, as well as the Chartered Management Institute. She has trained in mindfulness with Professor Rob Nairn.

Lorraine is also responsible for the delivery and management of the Corporate Mindfulness training programme for businesses in Wales and England. She delivers Mindfulness courses to companies, third-sector organisations, academic institutions and local government bodies.

Anthony Harris - Director at Samye Foundation Wales

Anthony has been a practitioner of meditation and mindfulness for over 30 years. He is a qualified psychotherapist and an experienced teacher of mindfulness and meditation. Anthony is a Director of Samye Foundation Wales and has been with the charity since it began in 2006.

Anthony designed the 8 Month Mindfulness Course which offers bespoke mindfulness training to those who wish to further enhance and nourish their mindfulness practice.

Gelong Thubten - Director at Samye Foundation Wales

Gelong Thubten is a Buddhist monk, meditation teacher and author from the UK. Gelong is a title meaning ‘senior monk’. Thubten was educated at Oxford University, and then became an actor, in London and New York. At the age of 21, tremendous amounts of stress led him to join a monastery. He ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist monk in 1993 at Kagyu Samye Ling Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. He has trained there under some of the world's most accomplished teachers of meditation, and has spent six years in intensive meditation retreats, the longest of which was 4 years.

Thubten specialises in teaching mindfulness meditation internationally, in businesses, hospitals, schools, universities, prisons and addiction counselling centres, and he gives keynote speeches at major events around the world. He has been teaching for over 20 years and is a world pioneer in the mindfulness movement, as he was teaching in these sectors many years before it became popular.

Dr Marie Payton-Jones (BSc, DClinPsych) - Mindfulness Trainer

Marie has previously worked in the NHS from 1999 to 2010, training in Clinical Psychology and working as a Clinical Psychologist from 2005 to 2010. During this period Marie worked with individuals, groups and organisations. Since leaving her role in the NHS to focus on raising a young family Marie has further developed her interest in mindfulness and her own mindfulness practice.

Marie has completed training in mindfulness teaching with the Mindfulness Association. 

Yvonne Staple - Mindfulness Trainer

Yvonne has worked in the NHS for 27 years and currently words as an Advanced Nurse/Prescribing Practitioner whose day to day job consists of managing busy front door service and assessing and treating the general public.

Yvonne has completed level 1 mindfulness training and level 2 mindfulness compassion training at Samye Foundation Wales, as well as completing level 3 mindfulness training at Samye Ling Monastery Scotland. Yvone has completed her mindfulness teaching training with the Mindfulness Association in order to share the benefits with others.

Andrew Morgans (BA (Hons), M. Res, PgCtHE, FHEA) - Mindfulness Trainer

Andrew is a professionally qualified Youth & Community Worker and has worked with children and young people on a variety of non-formal education projects in the arts, environment and global education. He is also qualified to teach the Youth Mindfulness Kids programme to primary school aged children. He has worked in Higher Education for 11 years and currently works at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Andrew has a passion for mindfulness and for the work of Samye Foundation Wales. He has been practising mindfulness meditation for over 10 years.
